Talking about erectile dysfunction is important

While erectile dysfunction medication is hardly a taboo subject these days with everybody making references to Viagra all the time, in some parts of the world advertisements for these types of drugs have a way of upsetting and embarrassing people. In a recent case in Australia one erectile dysfunction drug advertisement led to a woman being told not to turn up at her church.

woman banned from church for appearing in impotence advert

The woman in question had taken part in a TV commercial which showed her in a humorous but risqué sketch which has her trying to get something out of her reach above the fridge. She then calls her husband to the kitchen who opens his dressing gown to reveal something that the viewer cannot visualize but which is obviously his erect penis. The next thing that happens is that she puts on a massive smile and steps onto his invisible penis which enables her to reach on top of the fridge. You can see the advertisement here

There is evidence to show that by making light of impotence and making access to impotence drugs very easy, more men will come forward to get help instead of being too embarrassed to make a move. The arrival of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra has massively improved the general knowledge that both men and women have about impotence and this has led to many more men getting help.

On the other hand by trivializing and joking about erectile dysfunction you may firstly give the impression that it is not really a serious medical condition and secondly that the medications to treat it are harmless, when in fact they should be used carefully because they have a number of side effects and they can also interact with other medications.

Talking about erectile dysfunction is important because it is often a symptom of a more serious health condition such as heart disease. Getting a full medical checkup if you suffer from erectile dysfunction is always a good idea.
