One of the most popular forms of New Year exercise for people with New Year’s Resolutions to lose weight or get healthy is spinning! There is no doubt that spinning is one of the best forms of cardio exercise which will produce great benefits for weight loss and general cardio health.

A word of warning however for men is that if they are thinking of going to spinning on a regular basis they should be extremely careful about which bikes they choose to spin on! These days spinning bikes tend to have two types of bike seats, either a normal and regular bike seat or a specially designed one which reduces pressure on the perineum. If you are a man you should definitely be choosing the latter bike seat!
If you sit on a regular bike seat for 45 minutes you will be pressing down on a vital erectile function artery which provides blood to the penis when you want to get an erection. The perineum is not designed to be sat on and that is possibly why you have buttocks. Your buttocks are for sitting on and not your perineum!
When you are not used to sitting on a regular bicycle seat it can be very uncomfortable but over time you can get used to it and this means that your arteries and your perineum is also getting used to unnatural pressure.
Numerous studies have shown higher rates of erectile dysfunction in regular cyclists but despite this it amazes us at Ukmedix News how many men are unaware of this and continue to use regular bikes seats instead of specially designed ones.
If you want to make sure that you don’t end up having to use Viagra, Cialis or Levitra before you have to make sure you choose the right bike in the spinning class!
