This article is about Broken Penis Syndrome which occurs when an erect penis is subjected to extreme force which causes it to break causing extreme pain and erectile dysfunction.
Broken Penis Syndrome can occur when sexual games get out of control or during extremely vigorous intercourse. This can happen for example when the woman is on top and the penis instead of entering the vagina misses and is crushed by the woman. Other cases of men suffering from Broken Penis Syndrome have occurred when men try to do flying leaps in the bedroom such as the case of a man who climbed on top of the wardrobe so that he could penetrate his wife who was lying on the bed.
Men should be aware that the penis is breakable and therefore they should take care. When the penis breaks, the membrane which surrounds the corpora cavernosa is torn. The corpora cavernosa are chambers which fill up with blood when your erection occurs. The membrane surrounding them is called the tunica albuginea and is designed to protect the chambers but obviously with extreme stress it can be torn and if this happens the blood can leak out of the corpora cavernosa and cause swelling and bruising. There are reports of people having heard a popping sound when the tunica albuginea is ruptured and the blood escapes from the corpora cavernosa.
If this happens to you, you must immediately go and get medical help at hospital. It may be extremely embarrassing for you but if you don't get immediate help you may never be able to have sexual intercourse again which in the long term could cause far more stress and humiliation.
The treatment for this condition involves getting a general anesthetic and undergoing surgery to sew up the torn areas of the tunica albuginea. The tears normally occur not along the penis but around it and will obviously require specialist and delicate surgery. Around five or six weeks are normally required before the penis is back to its previous condition and sexual intercourse can be resumed.
Remember that you only have one penis so look after it!
