HerbalKing made use of illegal and malicious software

The Federal Trade Commission of the United States of America is congratulating itself after having won  an important legal battle which they say is the first step to stamping out illegal spam gangs who operate all over the internet targeting computers with emails advertising the erectile dysfunction medications Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.

Viagra Spammers Busted

The Federal Court in Chicago agreed to seize the assets of the spamming group and told them they had to shut down their operations immediately. HerbalKing as the name suggests sent literally billions of emails advertising herbal erectile dysfunction cures as well as a whole lot of other herbal remedies for weight loss, hair loss and even herbal remedies to increase the size of a man’s penis!

Mr. Richard Cox who works for the nonprofit spam bashing organisation SpamHaus claims that at their peak HerbalKing were responsible for over 30 percent of all spam worldwide. This investigation from the Federal Trade Commission has also been particularly useful because it has enabled them to learn exactly how these organisations operate and how they manage to generate their huge volume of emails.

The FTC said that HerbalKing made use of illegal and malicious software which infected other peoples’ computers and created a global network of computer users who unbeknown to themselves were sending out thousands of e-mails everyday. Marshal Software who provided technical support to the FTC said that it was estimated that the spam sending network involved as many as 35,000 individual computers and was able to send as many as 10 billion e-mails daily.

Ukmedix News has campaigned consistently against men purchasing any “herbal, natural or traditional” erectile dysfunction medications in response to spam e-mail because of the likelihood that they don’t work. In fact the FTC investigation confirmed that when they purchased some of the remedies in an undercover operation the pills that were sent to them were in fact laced with the active ingredient of the impotence medication Viagra.

It is hoped that as a result of this investigation the number of unwanted and annoying spam e-mails circulating around the world will drop considerably.
