Somebody who works for the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in Ireland is in trouble after having sent out thousands of pairs of boxer shorts adorned with the logo of Pfizer to doctors around the country. The promotional stunt which was done to mark the tenth anniversary of the launch of Viagra in Ireland has not been received well by some of these doctors who have complained that it was a cheap promotional gimmick which undermined the seriousness of impotence.

Not all of the doctors were offended by receiving the Pfizer boxer shorts and in any case there was no mention of the Viagra on them, however Pfizer has probably become the best known drug company in the world as a result of its association with the world’s best selling erectile dysfunction medication. One doctor even claimed that he had a good laugh when he got the boxer shorts.
In any case Pfizer have decided to recall all of the boxer shorts and have sent out freepost packages so that doctors can send them back and have said that they are extremely sorry if they caused any “embarrassment or offence”. They also said they had launched an internal investigation to find out exactly why and how these Pfizer boxer shorts were sent out.
At Ukmedix News everybody in the newsroom reckons that this incident has been blown out of all proportion and that the recall of the boxer shorts is generating far more publicity then the initial issue of them.
There is concern among some medical professionals that Viagra has become almost a joke or party drug which undermines the seriousness of the impotence condition but putting a Pfizer logo, [and not a Viagra logo] on a pair of boxer shorts can hardly deemed to be offensive or irresponsible.
