Viagra Ads May Be Stopped In US

but mummy what is Viagra?

An American Republican lawmaker is leading the campaign to prevent advertisements for erectile dysfunction medication being shown on TV at times when children could be watching. Jim Moran will be introducing the Families for ED Advertising Decency Act which is designed to prevent advertisements for Viagra, Cialis and Levitra from being shown between 6:00am and 10:00pm across America.

Viagra Ads May Be Stopped In US

The problem with these advertisements is that while they are not sexually explicit or indecent they do end up with children asking a lot of awkward questions about the different impotence drugs which parents say are unwanted. It's very difficult to give a good answer to the question “but mummy what is Viagra?”

Many people also argue that since Viagra is one of the world’s best known medications it hardly needs to be advertised on TV and that the adverts are more about individual drug companies fighting for market share then actually informing the public about the availability of erectile dysfunction medication.

Big pharmaceutical companies in America however carry a huge amount of weight because of their financial clout and are one of the biggest spenders when it comes to advertising. Restricting erectile dysfunction medication advertisements on American television would result in a loss of millions of dollars for the advertising industry so even if this legislation does go through it will not go through easily.

The advertisements for erectile dysfunction medication in America have been extremely effective and one advertisement for the drug Cialis received the highest recall of any advertisement shown on television.

In the United Kingdom advertisements for prescription medications are completely banned because of the principle that a doctor should choose your medicine for you rather than you going to the doctor requesting medicine. On the other hand there are people who argue that by advertising the respective medications people are made aware of the fact that there is a solution to their problem.

I think they are right, not to advertise during the time that children watch television, just like adult films are not shown.

Sometimes people underestimate children, they are actually really smart that is why those kind of advertisement is kinda silly!! of course kids are going to ask why their fathers need a bigger penis to make mom happy..
