were just more likely to try Viagra, Cialis or Levitra

A word of warning for men for men make use of either Viagra, Cialis or Levitra is that they fall into a category which makes them nearly three times more likely to contract a
sexually transmitted disease when compared to men who do not use erectile dysfunction medication.

using viagra increases std risk

Interestingly however, the researchers said that their study showed that the group of men who used these impotence drugs have a higher rate of STD's not only after using these drugs but also before.  They said that this suggested that the drugs themselves were not the cause for the increased sexual risk taking but just that men who tended to have many sexual partners and unprotected sex were just more likely to try Viagra, Cialis or Levitra.

The study was done by looking at the health insurance claims of over 1.4 million men over the age of forty in various parts of America. One of the study authors Professor Anupam B. Jena explained that erectile dysfunction drugs were not just for those men suffering from erectile dysfunction but were also becoming increasingly popular with men who liked to give their sexual activity a boost.

Ukmedix News has seen plenty of research which shows that the amount of men over the age of 50 who contract HIV has risen over the last ten years and this is largely due to the arrival of Viagra. Because older men tend to have older sexual partners they often feel that the risk of pregnancy is negligible and this gives them the confidence to have sex without a condom.

This research therefore underlines the importance of doctors who prescribe erectile dysfunction medication warning their patients of the associated risks of unprotected sex. Sexual education is normally thought of as being for young people but the sexual revolution which has been brought on by Viagra, Cialis and Levitra means that the older generation needs to be reminded of safe sex practices too.

The research was done by the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
