an incentive to practice safe sex

Durex, who sell more condoms than any other manufacturer worldwide are applying for full regulatory approval for a new type of product which has been nicknamed the Viagra condom.

The condom which was developed in the UK by Futura Medical PLC is designed to provide better erectile function for men who use condoms during sex. The condoms contain a gel with compounds that have been engineered to be absorbed into the penis.  These compounds which are called vasodilators will boost blood flow in the penile area thus enhancing erectile function.

The product is not really designed as a direct treatment for erectile dysfunction but is being targeted at men who find that wearing a condom when having sex is detrimental to their overall performance. Because a condom can desensitize the penis as well as provide a psychological impediment to good erectile function many men try to avoid using one. Durex hopes that this new product will encourage men who don't normally like using condoms to use one and also to reap some of the benefits that the gel provides.

The development of this condom has taken years because it was necessary to come up with lubricants, vasodilators and a type of latex all of which could work together and which would not be detrimental to each other when they come in contact.

The product which will not require a prescription will be purchased over the counter which will be a relief to men who don't like having a doctor's consultation.

The use of Viagra has largely been to blame for the rise of sexually transmitted diseases among older men and women. Men who have suddenly regained erectile function in their sixties have been known to be reckless with the number and safety of their sexual partners.
They often believe that because there's no risk of pregnancy when having sex with post menopausal women they don't need to use contraception. This new Viagra condom will give them an incentive to practice safe sex.
