The study also shows that it applies to women. Those women who suffer from anxiety about being able to become sexually aroused and orgasm were also more likely to cheat on their partners, in fact even more so than men.
According to the lead researcher Mr. Kristin Marx, women were eight percent more likely to be unfaithful because of sexual problems, whereas men were only six percent more likely to be unfaithful because of concerns about premature ejaculation and impotence.
The study which was done on an admittedly small group of 400 men and women involved a questionnaire about relationships and sexual practices. Whereas more men than women had cheated on their partners, the women who were sexually insecure were more likely to cheat.
It may be the people who are sexually insecure and who do have sexual anxieties with their current partners need to somehow prove themselves and show that they can be Don Juans and voracious lovers.
Maybe what this research shows that couples need to make an effort to have good sex and should not get complacent with sexual problems. Both women and men should be aware that if their partners are not enjoying regular satisfying sex it might not be the case that they are just learning to live with it, but they are becoming insecure and this could lead them to stray.
A woman might think that because her man suffers from erectile dysfunction he will not be able to have an affair anyway, but in fact he might find someone who makes more of an effort to understand his sexual problems. The same also applies to men! Women like to orgasm just as much as men and it makes them feel content and secure when they do.
So come on lads and ladies look after your sex lives because it will pay dividends in the long term!
