Saturated Fat Could Weaken Sperm

Using drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra will not improve your sperm

A word of warning to men who eat a lot of unhealthy saturated fat is that their diets could be affecting their fertility by reducing their sperm counts! The research undertaken by the Harvard Medical School also noted that those men who followed a diet which had the right amounts of healthy fat which occurs in olive oil, nuts and fish [omega 3 and omega 6] had stronger and healthier sperm. Saturated fat which comes in products like processed bacon, sausages, cakes and butter should therefore be avoided as much as possible.

The researchers who looked at three separate groups of men all of whom followed different diets noted that the group with the highest amount of saturated fat had a statistically significant 41 percent less sperm than those men who consumed the smallest amount of saturated fat. Professor Jill Attaman who led the study went on to say that those men who consume larger amounts of polyunsaturated fat had both "improved sperm morphology and motility."

This research which was outlined at a conference for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine will make interesting reading for all men especially those who are trying to start families. Other research which we have published at Ukmedix News has shown the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, being physically fit and generally looking after your health as a way of maintaining optimum sexual function.  Unhealthy living and obesity are the main causes of erectile dysfunction in men.

Using drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra will not improve the quality of your sperm but they will make it possible for you to have more sex which will obviously make it more likely for your partner to conceive. However if it is long term good erectile function which you desire you should change your diet, start going down to the gym and get healthy.
