Researchers See Low Testosterone Link To Death From Heart Attacks

doctors should screen for testosterone deficiency in men

At Ukmedix News we have often highlighted research which shows the link between high rates of erectile dysfunction and a greater likelihood of suffering from heart disease. New research has gone one step further and shows that men who already have erectile dysfunction and who also suffer from low testosterone levels have an even greater risk of dying from heart disease.

Researchers See Low Testosterone Link To Death From Heart Attacks

The study which was carried out by Dr. Giovanni Corona and his colleagues at the University of Florence looked at the testosterone levels of almost 1,700 men who had come forward for erectile dysfunction treatment and monitored the likelihood of them dying over the next few years. The results clearly show that those who suffered from the low testosterone levels had a statistically significant greater chance of either getting a heart attack, suffering from heart disease or dying.

The researchers therefore said that doctors should screen for testosterone deficiency in men who come to see them for erectile dysfunction treatment because they then could identify a greater likelihood for future heart attacks. Professor Corona who released his research at the European Society of Endocrinology held in Prague did however say that his research could not conclusively prove whether the lower levels of testosterone in the blood were a result of the high cardiovascular risk or whether they were actually causing it.

Another study done by the same group of researchers observed yet again the link between a large Body Mass Index and a greater likelihood of erectile dysfunction caused by reduced blood flow to the penile artery. Basically men should always remember that their sexual health is directly related to their overall health and that unhealthy living will always eventually catch up with them and cause problems in the bedroom.

Relying on the impotence meds Viagra, Cialis and Levitra as a permanent cure for sexual health problems is not a good idea and you should always firstly focus on your overall health as a way to improve sexual stamina.
