Research Shows That Impotence Is Natural For Old Men

Dr. Ida Korfage from Erasmus University Medical Centre in Holland has recently conducted a survey which concludes that it is perfectly normal for men to suffer from erectile dysfunction as they get older but that bowel function and urinary function do not always go into decline with age.

The survey was conducted by getting medical data from over 3,800 volunteers who partipated in the European Randomised Study on Screening for Prostate Cancer. Dr Korfage along with her colleagues used the data to examine whether urinary, bowel, and sexual dysfunction were part of a normal aging pattern or whether they were specific illnesses that only some men suffered from.
All of the men who volunteered for the clinical study were cancer free and they were placed into five separate groups depending on their ages and the youngest participants were 58 years old. The results clearly showed that the link between urological function and age was not that strong however there was a stronger link between erectile dysfunction and age.
What this means really is that you are more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction due to old age than you are to suffer from urological problems due to old age. It goes to show that some men who are perfectly healthy suffer from erectile dysfunction purely because of their age and that they should accept this as a normal process and not automatically consider that they have some medical problem. On the other hand there is no dispute about the fact that erectile dysfunction can sometimes be a signal that you have some underlying health condition such as heart disease, high blood pressure or that you are generally unhealthy.
The best way to stop the natural aging process which causes erectile dysfunction is to live healthily. This means that you must be of a normal weight and get regular exercise. Heavy smokers and drinkers are far more probable to suffer from erectile dysfunction when they are relatively young.
