The Ukmedix News Team has been following statements put out by the Assistant Attorney General in America regarding the problem of counterfeit medication being sold worldwide. Matthew Friedrich said that the problem was growing and at the moment it was estimated that the industry was worth as much as $40 billion a year.

Another statement released by Pat Ford who heads the global security department for the world’s largest drug company Pfizer described the international counterfeit drug market as being similar to the “Wild West” as well as pointing out that they lose in the region of $2 billion a year as a result of these fake drugs.
Mr. Ford said that the counterfeiters are now becoming so good at their job that it is even difficult for trained pharmacist to tell the difference between the real drugs and the fake drugs. For this reason Pfizer have put in controls to ensure that no fake drugs get into the legitimate supply chain for pharmaceuticals as has happened on a number of occasions with the Viagra impotence medication.
He went on to say that men should use their common sense when buying erectile dysfunction medication and that if they ever replied to a spam e-mail to obtain medication they were putting their health at risk and playing Russian Roulette. He also warned about online pharmacies which would send Viagra to men without asking for a prescription as they were almost certainly sending fake medication. If a company is prepared to break the law by not issuing a prescription then they are almost certainly happy to break the law by supplying fake medication.
Mr. Ford said that some of the medications they had seen contained harmful things such as boric acid, floor wax and heavy metals which show that the manufacturers of these medications have no conscience and no concern about the health of their patients.
Ukmedix operates a unique system called Pharmacheck which has been designed to give the customer peace of mind. It works by giving you the address and the license of the United Kingdom pharmacy from where your medication is being dispensed from so that if need be you can even call up and check that everything is in order.
