Evidence that your heart and your erectile function are linked has been shown by researchers in Turkey. Using cardiac resynchronization therapy on men who were suffering from heart failure they were able to show not that only was sexual performance improved but also sexual desire among men with chronic heart failure.

The research which was led by Professor Ahmet Vural of Kocaeli University involved the use of pacemakers which worked on both the right and left ventricles of the heart on 31 male volunteers. The men were assessed before the pacemaker was implanted and then again six months later.
As well as the obvious benefits of decreased mortality, higher levels of energy and physical ability 25 of the men claimed to have a higher level of libido after being fitted with the pacemaker. In fact 23 of the men said that they had normal erectile function and none of them reported severe erectile dysfunction.
Professor Vural said that there was no question about whether cardiac resynchronization therapy was having a very positive impact on the sexual health and function of the patients.
The research which was made public in the journal Clinical Cardiology should make men sit up and remember the importance of maintaining a healthy heart if they want to maintain good erections as they get older. Ultimately it is your heart which pumps blood around your body and into the penile artery which allows you to become erect. If your heart isn't working properly you're not going to get much of an erection.
Living healthily, doing exercise, not smoking and drinking in moderation only will help to make sure that your golden years will be stress and illness free. It is true that the drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra can help you maintain better erectile function but if the main engine is damaged there is not that much they can do.
