In a dramatic undercover Interpol operation police have raided premises suspected of being involved in the illegal online business of supplying fake erectile dysfunction medications and others over the internet. The operation which was code named Pangea and involved months of planning and preparation culminated in a raid on hundreds of locations all over the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Israel, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States.

A spokesman from Interpol explained that the raids which were carried out on last Wednesday were the first time that such a large concerted operation had been planned against illegal online pharmacies. The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency which took part in this operation raided at least twelve different premises around the country and explained that these illegal pharmacies were posing a serious health risk to the public. Speaking on behalf of the MHRA, Danny Lee-Frost explained that these websites could be supplying harmful medication and therefore had to be shut down.

He went on to say that people who went and bought prescription medications over the internet from sites that did not require a prescription were placing themselves in danger and warned the internet operators that they would be using the “all appropriate measures” to shut them down. Operation Pangea is likely to have been a big setback to the criminal organisations which run these web sites. The International Narcotics Control Board explained that the illegal manufacturers of prescription medication are a bigger problem than the use of the illegally manufactured banned drugs such as heroin, cocaine and amphetamines.

Ukmedix News advises men and women to take the advice of the MHRA and stay away from all suspect web sites. At Ukmedix you are able to check the veracity of your medication by contacting the licensed pharmacy in the United Kingdom that dispenses them. This is done by utilising the Pharmacheck system which is designed to give you the peace of mind that what you are using is genuine and has been authorised by a UK doctor.
