Professor Gail Dines from Wheelock College in Boston has revealed that the problem of online porn affecting young men is becoming increasingly severe especially as the type of pornographic content found on most web sites is hard-core and designed to dehumanise and degrade women. Professor Dines in her book 'Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality' explains that the easy availability of online porn has created a generation of men who have had 24 hour access to images which portray unrealistic images of sex and sexual behaviour.

Whereas previously pornography tended to be top shelf magazine stuff like Playboy Magazine which showed soft core images of beautiful women smiling shyly at the camera, young men are now exposed to brutal and violent video clips of women being penetrated. Any idea that sex is connected to making love is removed from the majority of online porn sites and the emphasis is on contempt and disgust for women.
The arguments in favour of online porn are that they are harmless images of consenting actors, and that they are nothing more than a little bit of fun, however as Professor Dines explains it is possible for men to become addicted to these images and be unable to perform in normal loving relationships with women.
Men who are addicted to pornography are unable to become aroused unless they can bring up images of their favorite porn stars or unless their sexual partners agree to look or behave in the same way as their porn star fantasies. These men are unable to focus on the women that they are with but have to visualize hard core porn scenarios.
Another thing which is becoming apparent is that the men who view a lot of online pornography end up feeling inadequate about the size of their penises because they compare themselves to porn stars. They think that unless the women they have sex with have screaming orgasms and beg for more sex they must be doing something wrong.
In another recently published book called 'The Porn Trap' Wendy and Larry Maltz explain that porn is the new 21st century addiction which is going to keep sex therapists in business for a long time.
Men who are addicted to porn are unlikely to get any help in having normal sexual relationships by using Viagra, Cialis or Levitra and they should remember that the only way to get everything working again is to stay away from online porn and to possibly get help from a sex therapist.
