More clear proof that using an uncomfortable bicycle seat can cause problems with your erectile function has been published. The research done by Dr. Steven Schrader from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in Cincinnati shows that men who used a special bicycle saddle with a ‘nose’ for six months on a regular basis reported better erectile function than they had previously when they had been using normal bicycle seats.

Many people don’t believe that erectile function can be affected by a bicycle seat but Ukmedix News has previously reported on clinical testing which shows that the pressure which is put on the penile artery which runs along the perineum can cause blood flow problems to the penis. In this new research 90 cycling police officers from five different cities in America not only used the special bike seats but also took part in a detailed study using computer pressure measurements which examined the point of contact of the new seats. They also agreed to be monitored by a machine designed to record and measure nocturnal erections.
The computer pressure results showed that the new noseless bike seats resulted in a 2/3 reduction in direct contact in the most important parts. The number of men who said that they had genital numbness with the traditional bike seats was 73 percent but with the new bike seats this figure was only eighteen percent and practically all of the men reported better erectile function and more noctural erections. The researchers also noted that after the study was over 87 of the men who had been given the new bicycle seats opted to continue using them and not to go back to the old bicycle seats they had been using before.
If you are a man who regularly rides a bicycle you should be aware of the effect that continued and regular pressure on the perineum can have and possibly go and buy yourself one of these new bicycle seats. Some experts say that even women should use these new bike seats as their sexual function is also dependent on good blood flow in the perineum area and therefore possibly an uncomfortable traditional bicycle seat could also negatively affect them.
