A new study has added to the weight of evidence which shows that not getting enough good quality sleep is linked to higher rates of erectile dysfunction in men. The study showed a clear link between sleep apnea and impotence. Sleep apnea is a condition where people stop breathing for a short while when they're asleep which means that they have restless and poor quality sleeping patterns.

The results showed that those men who suffered from erectile dysfunction were more than twice as probable to also suffer from sleep apnea. The study which was presented at a American Urological Association meeting could be used by doctors to identify patients likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction.
An AUA spokesman Dr. KevinMcVary explained that the data from the research could help doctors to advise patients on modifying their sleep patterns which could lead to superior health and a better quality of life.
Not getting enough sleep is a serious health problem because it is linked to other medical problems such as elevated rates of cardio disease, hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol and obesity. All of these illnesses in themselves can lead to death and a poor quality of life. Another study which can be seen in the clinical journal Sleep even suggests that your brain could be aged by as much as seven years by not getting the correct amount of sleep.
If you are not feeling well, making an extra effort to get some good quality sleep could improve things for you massively. Simple things like avoiding cigarettes, coffee and alcohol as well as making it the point to relax before you go to bed may make a big difference.
A little bit of exercise, taking time to have a hot bath or just chilling out with your family so that you completely switch off from all of life's problems could be the answer to your sexual health as well as your overall health.
