80 percent more likely to suffer from heart disease.

The world famous Mayo Clinic in America has released results of its research which shows that men who suffer from erectile dysfunction when they are in their forties are twice as likely to experience heart disease as men who do not. The researchers also noted that men who have erectile dysfunction are a huge 80 percent more likely to suffer from heart disease.

Mayo Clinic Confirms The Heart Disease Link To Impotence

This study confirms previous studies which have shown a link between heart disease and erectile dysfunction and it could be that the link has been previously underestimated. Professor Jennifer St. Sauver explained that the younger the men were when they first suffered from erectile dysfunction the greater the chances of them suffering from heart disease in the future and they should start to make changes in their lifestyles now if they wanted to be healthy in the future. The interesting thing about this study is that, as Doctor Martin Miner explained, it opens up a “window of curability” during which it is possible for the advancement of heart disease to be stopped with either medication or lifestyle changes.

Over 1,400 men took part in the Mayo Clinic study which has been going on since 1996. The men were regularly assessed for sexual health using the Male Sexual Function Inventory.  The researchers said that men who were considerably older when they first started to get erectile dysfunction were less likely to also have heart disease, showing that to a certain extent erectile dysfunction is a normal sign of aging.

The exhaustive study which was published the Mayo Clinic Proceedings journal should serve as a firm and clear warning for men who suffer from erectile dysfunction to take steps to improve their health and get checked out by doctor. The best way to keep erectile dysfunction at bay is to eat healthily and get regular exercise.
