Manny Ramirez Used Wrong Drugs

Nobody’s quite sure why Manny Ramirez took the HCG

One of the world’s great baseball players is facing a humiliating exposé in the press after failing a drug test which shows him to have taken a banned substance. What makes the ban even more humiliating is that the drug that he took is in fact a female fertility drug called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG.

Manny Ramirez Used Wrong Drugs

There are a lot of rumours flying around as to why exactly Manny Ramirez took the banned substance but it has been shown to regulate testosterone levels which have changed after using anabolic steroids. HCG has also been used to help men who suffer from other rare medical conditions such as undescended testicles and dwarfism. HCG has been prescribed in some cases to men suffering from erectile dysfunction but since the arrival of the impotence drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra it has not been used nearly as much.

Nobody’s quite sure why Manny Ramirez took the HCG but in view of the fact that he has admitted the use and is not contesting his playing ban it is likely that he either knows he is guilty of using a banned substance designed to improve and enhance performance, or he has an extremely embarrassing medical condition that he does not want to discuss.

Athletes must be extremely careful before using a medication as even regular weight loss meds, hair loss meds and even in the future possibly Viagra, Cialis and Levitra could cause them to be banned from their respective sports. Professional sportsmen must notify the team doctor before using any medication no matter how obscure because of possible performance enhancing side effects.

The hair loss drug Propecia has caused many men to be banned from their sports, [even though it is allowed to be used now following a change in WADA rules], and the weight loss drug Reductil is definitely out of bounds for professional sportsmen and women.
