The Dept of Health in Hong Kong has issued a warning to members of the public not to make use of a Chinese medication called "Kam Yuen Brand Xue Guan Qing Dao Fu Tablet". This medicine was recently tested in a laboratory and found to contain the active ingredient of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in undisclosed quantities.

The drug Viagra is legal in Hong Kong however it is a prescription medication which can only be issued by doctors and should never be added to so-called traditional Chinese medication. The Department of Health also said that no mention on the labeling of the tablets was made about the addition of the Sildenafil citrate compound.
The Hong Kong authorities have ordered the importers of the medicine to recall all batches of the product from shops and markets where it has been sold, and they have cooperated fully even to the extent of setting up a special hotline so that members of the public can seek advice regarding the dangers of this medication. It is not clear whether they will be prosecuted for their part in the sale of this medication.
The Department of Health also warned members of the public who used the medication to stop taking it immediately and to go and see a doctor especially if they felt unwell. Any unused tablets should be destroyed or submitted to the Department's Pharmaceutical Service at the Public Health Laboratory Centre.
Fake erectile dysfunction medications in Hong Kong have been known to kill on other occasions and their dangerous should never therefore be underestimated. Often the fake Viagra medications are poorly made in unhygienic conditions and with the wrong and differing amounts of the active ingredients present in every single tablet.
The Ukmedix News advice regarding erectile dysfunction medication is clear and simple. Do not use anything which has not been given to you or prescribed to you by a doctor!
