A new study shows that in America around 2,200 men have died from using one of the three erectile dysfunction medications Viagra, Cialis or Levitra over the last ten years. The data which was compiled by the Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology at the American Food and Drug Administration should be taken with a pinch of salt because firstly it is extremely difficult to assess exactly how many men are using erectile dysfunction medications and also whether in these cases whether the erectile dysfunction drug was actually the cause of death.

It is estimated that between 15 and 84 million men use or have used an erectile dysfunction medication in America and so this again makes the data difficult to analyze. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that erectile dysfunction medications, [even the legally prescribed versions Viagra, Cialis and Levitra] do come with a very small risk of serious health injury and even death!
Professor Gregory Lowe from the Ohio State University Medical Center who authored the study explained that even if you purchased impotence drugs legally there was still a risk of heart attacks. Many men who use erectile dysfunction drugs do so because they are suffering from vascular problems which are often the first sign of heart disease. When they use erectile dysfunction medications and are therefore able to exert themselves in the bedroom they sometimes overdo it and give themselves heart attacks.
Professor Lowe said that the safest and best course of action was to make sure that you purchased Viagra, Cialis or Levitra with a prescription and that you stayed away from counterfeit medication. At Ukmedix News we would advise smokers, overweight individuals and those who do not get regular exercise to have a full cardio check up before using one of the erectile dysfunction drugs.
Professor Lowes research was published by the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
