the statistical probability of suffering from blindness or hearing loss is small

The general consensus from market analysts of pharmaceutical drugs is that the new warning from the Food & Drug Administration of America regarding erectile dysfunction drugs and the links to hearing loss is not significant and should not affect the sales of these medications.

Erectile dysfunction medication has also been linked to possible blindness before and yet the sales of these drugs continue to rise. In 2004 the sales of erectile dysfunction medication worldwide was $2.32 billion, rising to $2.46 billion in 2005 and more than $2.7 billion in 2006. The figures for 2007 are not complete yet but there are no signs of the market slowing.

Some analysts pointed to the reason that the sales of Viagra have been slowly decreasing over the last three years was an indication that people were getting wary of the drug, but this is not the case as the sales of the other erectile dysfunction medications Cialis and Levitra have continued to rise. Cialis has nearly doubled in sales over the previous two years and is the most serious rival to Viagra. Sales of the third most popular erectile dysfunction medication Levitra have varied between $80 and $90 million dollars over the last few years.

In all it is reckoned that erectile dysfunction medication has possibly caused blindness in 42 men over the last few years and around 29 men claim that these medication caused them sudden hearing loss. What should be taken into consideration is that in none of these cases has it been categorically proved that the drugs that actually caused the medical problem and thus a link has not been conclusively proven.

Ukmedix News say that while care should be taken when using these medications the statistical probability of suffering from blindness or hearing loss is insignificant and not a cause for concern.
