Talking About Impotence Helps

At Ukmedix News one of the things that we like to promote is the fact that around 90 percent of all erectile dysfunction is purely a simple arterial blood flow problem can not some sort of psychological problem that men associate with being less of a man. However some new research that we have seen makes interesting reading because it shows that a man who has a physical erectile dysfunction problem may cure himself more quickly and more effectively if he has counselling along with the use of erectile dysfunction medication like Viagra.

The research that was done by an organisation called the Cochrane Systematic Review looked at over 400 men who had reported erectile dysfunction. The men were given the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra and placed into different groups. It was noted that the men who took part in a “group psychotherapy” and were also given the Viagra impotence drug fared far better than the man who were only given Viagra and who did not have the group psychotherapy as well.
The researchers noted that for a man to have good erectile function a number of different factors come into play such as psychological, urological and vascular issues. The majority of male erectile dysfunction is due to a vascular problem in the penile artery however it is important to remember that other things need to be taken into account and that some men who have perfect vascular function will not be able to sustain an erection due to psychological or urological problems.
The other thing that surprised us at Ukmedix News about this research was that it was noted that 95 percent of all the men who took part in the psychosocial therapy actually derived benefit from it. Being under the impression in the newsroom that most men suffered from erectile dysfunction because of a simple arterial problem this was big news to us and maybe we have been underestimating the psychological impact that erectile dysfunction has on a man.
What we have learned from this research is that while Viagra and its cousins Cialis and Levitra are without a doubt the most effective medications to cure erectile dysfunction you must never underestimate the importance of good psychological counseling to help a man perform well sexually. Women should take note of this too, as it has been shown that the support of a woman when a man suffers from erectile dysfunction can be of great help to him in sorting out his impotence problem.
