Erectile Dysfunction Medication In The Headlines Again

In New Jersey men who suffer from erectile dysfunction have just suffered a blow in that the State Governor has ruled that people will no longer be allowed to make the state to pay for Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. The move is part fo a cost cutting exercise that is sure to be unpopular with certain men who rely on the drugs for their sexual function.

New Jersey has a five billion dollar deficit forecasted for the year 2007 but the move to stop payements for the erectile dysfunction drugs will only save a mere 1.5 million dollars. Not all people will be ruled out however as payments will continue for the handicapped and the old, who are on low incomes and need help.

The decision to stop paying for the erectile dysfunction drugs was partly the result of many sex offenders that had started to get State help for the drugs under healthcare programs that shocked and appalled taxpayers. In fact over 12,000 dollars was paid out to some 55 sex offenders in the State of New Jersey all of whom were classed as being high risk for offending again. Since then the State has refused to pay for ED drugs for men on the likely to reoffend register.

The State of New York beat New Jersey to it when they stopped the subsidy of erectile dysfunction drugs earlier in the year at a cost saving of almost 15 million dollars as in the previous year nearly 200 sex offenders had claimed money for Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.
