The Stamp Test

Diagnosing erectile dysfunction is easy as it is quite simply the inability to maintain and sustain ann erection for sexual intercourse. However diagnosing the reason for erectile dysfunction can be more complicated that that. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a physical issue, such as high blood pressure and damaged or blocked penile arteries as well as general unhealthy living. This erectile dysfunction means that the penis is physically unable to perform no matter what the stimulation. Drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis can all help in this case but a check up is required before using them.

Sometimes a man is perfectly healthy and his penile arteries and sexual health is fine but he is still unable to perform and get an erection. This type of erectile dysfunction is more complicated and can is more difficult to diagnose as both the patient and doctor are unable to know for sure the root cause of the problem. A popular test to determine if your physical sexual function is good is The Stamp Test. It works like this.

Go and buy a stamp (a second class one is fine) and when you go to sleep carefully but securely stick the stamp to the front of your penis. Really ensure it is stuck well and won't come off when you turn around in your sleep. It is completely normal for a man to have a number of erections in his sleep at night and since there are no worrying psychological factors present when you are asleep if the erectile dysfunction is in your head you will still get an erection.

When you get an erection in your sleep with the stamp on your penis it will come off and when you check in the morning and the stamp is not present at least you know the your physical sexual function is in good shape. Some men even report waking up on getting an erection with the stamp test as when the stamp pulls the skin it can be painful.

If you have established that your sexual dysfunction is all in the mind then it is necessary to work out what is causing it and you need to ask yourself some questions about your attitude to sex and your sexual partners. Sometime counselling can help and and your doctor should be able to recommend someone to help you. Talking to your wife or sexual partner about the problem and your underlying concerns can give you a sense of relief and remove the stress from the sexual situation.
