Impotence And Smoking Link Higher Than Previously Thought

were 26 times (yes 26 times!) more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction

At Ukmedix News we have written about different research projects which have shown that smoking can cause erectile dysfunction and recently we came across yet another research project done at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Centre by Doctor Spangler which looked at the connection between male sexual health and smoking. He noted that because smoking increases blood pressure leading to hypertension, smokers often suffer from erectile dysfunction indirectly as a result of high blood pressure as opposed to directly from the effects of smoking.  On the whole the reason why smokers tend to suffer from erectile dysfunction is because smoking can cause the arteries that pump blood to the penis to clog up thus restricting healthy blood flow.

Impotence And Smoking Link Higher Than Previously Thought

Smoking is also bad for the heart and good cardiovascular function has been linked to good erections also. It appears that many of the health problems that smoking causes also indirectly cause erectile dysfunction. It is unlikely that you will not suffer from erectile dysfunction if you continue to smoke and the chances are that by then it will be extremely difficult for you to do anything about it. You must quit smoking when you are relatively young and when your sexual function is good if you want to make sure that in your older years you are able to have satisfactory erections.

One of the terrifying smoking statistics that Doctor Spangler came up with was that those men who smoked and had high blood pressure as a result were 26 times (yes 26 times!) more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction. This statistic alone should be enough for you never can light up a cigarette again, but even if it isn’t there are hundreds of other reasons why you should not smoke and you should constantly remind yourself of them to make sure that you quit the habit sooner rather than later.

As well as causing erectile dysfunction, smoking is also known to significantly reduce your desire to have sex and also to significantly in lower the reproductive ability of both men and women.

Are you sure you still want to smoke?
