A sexual health expert Professor Monica Andersen from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil recently announced that not getting enough sleep could seriously damage the male desire for sex and even initiate erectile dysfunction. Speaking at a conference designed to a share knowledge about sleeping problems Professor Andersen said that the problem of people not getting enough sleep was growing and this was having an effect on the erectile function of men all around the world. She also spoke about an extremely rare condition called sexsomnia which occurs when men initiate sexual activity when they are asleep as when they are in there resting period their libido increases suddenly.

The stresses and pressures put on men in the modern world who work long irregular hours means that many more men are suffering from erectile dysfunction. Lack of sleep can also heighten the stress that men undergo and this in itself can put you in a higher risk bracket of erectile dysfunction. When people get stressed they tend to blame the workplace, their relationships and other external factors but it is becoming apparent that this is not always the case and it is a simple things in life like sleeping well, eating well and learning to relax which are the best cures for stress and erectile dysfunction.
Being stressed can cause insomnia and if you are having sleep problems it is important that you wind down after a long work day and make a serious effort to relax before you go to bed. Having a long hot bath and taking a good book to bed can really help. It is also important that you get regular sleep. It is no good catching four hours a night and trying to make up for it with a cat snaps throughout the day as you will just not catch up. People who do not get regular sleep often find that when an opportunity presents itself for a good nap they are unable to sleep.
