A UK company has been given a warning by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency after it was seen to be selling and promoting medicines without the correct licences and authorisation. The company called McKeith Research Ltd was promoting its herbal sex aid products live on air with a television nutrition and diet guru, Gillian McKeith. The two products that are called Fast Formula Horny and Fast Formula Wild Pink were immediately taken out of the shops were they are being sold after the MHRA warned the company.
The company replied by saying that they had no problem with the rules and implied that the EU laws had changed recently with regards to the advertising and selling of medication and that’s why the were on the wrong side of the law.
McKeith Research Ltd claims that the herbal remedies are good for the sex drive of men and women and have some traditional herbs in them that are well known to be good for libido as well as sexual dysfunction. By making these sorts of claims the products fell into the category of medicines and thus they need to be licensed by the MHRA and the rules also say that only licensed medications are allowed to be advertised to the general public. The TV promoter of the sexual aid products Gillian McKeith is well known in the UK for being the presenter of the TV show “You Are What You Eat”
Ukmedix advises extreme caution with all herbal and so called traditional remedies for sexual and erectile dysfunction as some of them contain powerful stimulants that can be dangerous. Be especially careful of these types of medicines that come from India or China as they may contain the key ingredients of western drugs like Viagra, Cialis or Levitra in them.
