Doctors have known for sometime that there is a connection between erectile dysfunction and heart disease and new research has looked more carefully at the link and examined how the different types of heart problems can effect the sexual function of a man.
The research carried out in Italy shows among other things that erectile dysfunction may start as much as two or three years before the start of coronary artery disease and they can also show a connection between the hardening of arteries with those men with chronic coronary syndrome and impotence. The scientists have published the research European Heart Journal and are keen to show the importance of good heart function for good erectile function.
The results showed that effort induced angina pectoris as well as atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries) were the main factors that caused higher levels of erectile dysfunction, in fact 93% of men who had both erectile dysfunction and coronary artery disease said that they had had symptoms of impotence 1 to 3 years prior to the first attack of angina.
Another article in the same journal said that it would be sensible for all men who have ED and no prior heart problems to get a full cardiac report, blood pressure analysis diabetes check as well as practical advice on eating and exercise. The study also noted that GP's and urinologists were those in the front line of impotence problems and advised that they take the issue of erectile dysfunction not just as a sexual problem but also as one which was a likely indicator of heart disease and other health conditions.
It may be the cardiologists and urinologists should be the working closer together with cases of erectile dysfunction and come up with joint programs to treat the problem. Ukmedix takes its responsibilties very seriously and gives a full online consultation to all its patients. If heart trouble is very evident the use of Viagra, Levitra and Cialis is not advised and a thorough check up will be required.
