Regular readers of Ukmedix News may remember when we reported on a very exciting new development in the world of erectile dysfunction medication which was when a UK company called Futura Medical announced that it would be testing a gel that would be applied on a man's penis and would help him get an erection. This gel was touted as being a direct rival to the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra and caused a huge amount of excitement in the medical world.

However today Ukmedix News has bad news as the main sponsor of the erectile dysfunction gel has pulled out of the agreement that they had with Futura Medical and as a result the share price of the company has dropped by over 30 percent. The main sponsor and financial backer for the extremely expensive development profess for the gel was one of the world's biggest drug companies GlaxoSmithKline Plc, and their decision not to continue with the development of this novel erectile dysfunction gel could well mean that it will never come to production.
The boss of Futura Medical said that while he was disappointed with the decision of GlaxoSmithKline he was confident that he would sign agreements with other drug companies and that the development process for the erectile dysfunction gel would not be stopped. The gel which was codenamed MED2002 was particularly exciting as it could help men who for reasons such as heart disease or blood pressure problems were unable to use the PDE-5 inhibiting drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. The gel was also said to act extremely quickly and to be very easy to apply. MED2002 has an active ingredient called glyceryl trinitrate that is also used to treat angina.
Ukmedix News will continue to report on any new developments of this MED2002 gel and hope that another backer is found for this exciting new product.
