Garlic May Aid Sexual Function

If you have been watching TV and tuned into the BBC recently you may have come across a program that claims that garlic may work to cure men suffering from erectile dysfunction! In fact as a result sales of garlic cloves have been boosted at one supermarket chain by almost a third.
The program called Trails for The Truth About Food has compared garlic to a natural form of Viagra. But is there any truth in the claim. In the Ukmedix News rooms we tapped our usual sources to find out more but what is clear is that there have been no clinical tests done with garlic and its effect on erectile dysfunction.
Apparently garlic can help men who suffer from high levels of bad cholesterol in their blood and this has previously been shown to be one reason why men suffer from erectile dysfunction.
In the TV show 7 men who were suffering from erectile dysfunction were asked to consume a diet loaded with garlic over a three-month period and to report back if there were any positive effects.
Out of the 7 men 6 said that they had definitive improvements and 3 of them said that they had complete restoration of their erectile function. The program that is due to be shown again is likely to mean that more men (and women) go and buy cloves of garlic and Asda the supermarket group have ordered more garlic top cope with the expected surge in demand.
One word of warning from Ukmedix though…. While your sexual function may improve it is likely to be partly due to a placebo effect and also stinking of garlic will not endear you to the opposite sex!!
