They will be exposing samples of semen to electromagnetic waves

A group of researchers from the Cleveland Clinic in America have conducted a study which shows that by using your mobile phone for long periods every day could end up affecting your fertility as a man in that it will decrease your sperm quality.

Mobile Phones Could Undermine Your Fertility

The Cleveland Clinic looked at over 350 men at a fertility clinic that they run and they saw that the men who used their mobile phones for a long time every day tended to have poorer sperm quality than those men who hardly ever use their phones. Men who use their phones a lot had lower sperm counts and a larger percentage of sperm which was abnormal.

Other research has shown a connection between people who use their mobile phones a lot and a higher risk of getting a brain tumor or other cancers but this has not been definitely proved. Some research projects have shown absolutely no connection between the two. Mobile phones give off a lot of electromagnetic waves which scientists say could potentially damage body tissue. The research that was published in the clinical journal Fertility and Sterility adds to questions of potential health issues with mobile phones.

The researchers said that they will continue with some other experiments to see whether their results can be validated but at present the link cannot be proved. They will be exposing samples of semen to electromagnetic waves which mobile phones give off to see whether there are any effects and they will also be doing a subsequent study to look at a much larger group of men. They will also be asking these men about other lifestyle influences which could cause semen quality to be lowered.

The good news is however that the researchers did not find any connection between mobile phone use and erectile dysfunction.
