Relax For Good Erections

Written by Stuart Stevens | Wednesday, 04 July 2007

Men perform best in bed when they are completely relaxed...

The fact is that 90% of all erectile dysfunction problems are caused by a lack of blood to the penile artery and it is essential that you remember this. The chances are that if you have erectile dysfunction you have either high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, you are very unfit, you are obese or you are a heavy smoker all of which are known to affect blood flow.

Relax For Good Erections

Now assuming that you can rule about out all of the above you probably have what is called psychological impotence. In the days before Viagra and when erectile dysfunction was very much a taboo subject, hardly discussed at all even by doctors people believed that the vast majority of men who suffered from impotence had something wrong in their head as opposed to something wrong in their penile artery. These days with so much discussion going on and research done on erectile dysfunction the facts are plain and clear for everybody to see.

Psychological impotence can be just as distressing and serious an illness as physical impotence and should not be underestimated as a medical problem. The majority of men who suffer from this psychological impotence can be cured with counselling. For example a man who has a serious guilty conscience about sleeping with a woman may suffer from psychological impotence or a man who is extremely nervous about performing well in bed may also get himself into such a state every time he is with a woman that he is unable to perform. This is called performance anxiety.

Performance anxiety is something that was virtually unheard of ten years ago but is now a commonly known condition that doctors can talk about freely. In today’s era where women are sexually confident and require good sexual performance from men sometimes the men can be intimidated and worried about performing well and thus they get so stressed that they are unable to get an erection in the first place.

The mechanism by where a man gets an erection is one in which muscles at the base of the penis actually relax and thus allow the blood to flow into the penile chambers. If you are unable to relax yourself and you are too tense these muscles will not release themselves and thus you will be unable to get an erection. Numerous research projects to show that men perform best in bed when they are completely relaxed, devoid of anxiety and feeling confident about their sexual performance. The woman can do a lot to help a man perform well in bed by relaxing him and taking the pressure and stress off.
