New Review Of ED Drugs Shows They Are Safe And Effective

A new review on erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra claims that they are safe and effective even for men with diabetes. Well we sort of knew that at Ukmedix and our news articles from hundreds of different sources always backed this up. The review was published in The Cochrane Library a publication that deals with all aspects of medicine and drug use.

In this study no new research was done but 8 different studies that have been done on erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra for men with diabetes were reviewed and reanalyzed to come to their conclusions. In all these studies looked at almost 1,800 men around half of whom were given a placebo pill to maintain the integrity of the studies. In these studies about 80% of the men were sufferers of diabetes Type 2 and the remaining 20% had Type 1 diabetes. On average the studies tended to last for about 3 months and covered men from a range of different backgrounds and with different medical histories.

The studies came up with no adverse reactions for the men with diabetes and in most cases the erectile dysfunction drugs were seen to be effective and cured the men of their erectile difficulties.

The diabetic men were seen to have a greater number of ‘successful intercourse attempts’ when compared to the men who used the placebo. Diabetic men have a much higher rate of erectile dysfunction than other men and therefore while the drugs often worked they didn’t work as often as they do with men who do not suffer from diabetes.

The researchers said that the obvious side effects were still reported with the diabetic men such as headaches and nasal congestion but this was normal and expected especially in men who took higher doses of the PDE-5 inhibitors.

One word of warning however was that the reviewers felt that even though the drugs were seen to be safe they still advised that a doctor is always consulted and a prescription is issued before using the impotence drugs.
