Impotence Drugs Causing HIV To Spread

Ukmedix has already reported on the high incidence of STD's and HIV in elderly people over the last decade. It appears that the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are enabling old people to have sex and that this is causing them to pass on HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. New reports are coming into the Ukmedix newsroom about the problem from Southeast Texas where health professionals and doctors are coming across more and more cases of AIDS in older people especially in old people's homes and other places where old people live.

It is not just the fact that old people are able to have sex that is the problem but also because of their lack of education about the transmission of HIV and AIDS. They come from a generation that had never heard of the AIDS virus when they were young and so they know next to nothing about its transmission and in fact many old people believe that the virus is only transmitted to homosexuals and as they are often sleeping with postmenopausal women they dont worry about pregnancy and thus they don't use protection. Some old people don't even know where to get condoms from or how to use them and this adds to the problem.

Two AIDS organisations namely the Triangle AIDS Network and the Project AIDS Land Manor are busy promoting the safe sex message to younger people and educating them about AIDS and its dangers, but they say that they are rarely allowed to talk about their safe sex education programs and give out free condoms to older people in old peoples homes. Obviously the younger people are still more at risk but and suffer from AIDS in bigger numbers but more needs to be done for older people.

In previous years before the arrival of the impotence medicine Viagra elderly people just gave up having sex at a certain age when their sexual function began to wane. Nowadays the message is that you don't need to stop having sex and that Viagra, Cialis or Levitra will keep you virile into old age.
