There is an ongoing debate about whether the use of erectile dysfunction drugs are causing a rise in the number of people who get sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) and AIDs and there doesn’t seems to be a clear answer to the issue. Ukmedix has come across research that shows that men who use Viagra, Cialis or Levitra are not more likely to pass on STD’s and research also that shows the opposite. In Brasil one of the world’s biggest and fun loving countries, the health authorities there have place an order for one billion condoms as part of a dedicated program to rid the country of its ongoing and growing AIDS problem.
The Health Minister Speaking Dr Alvares said that the Brasilian government was making the largest ever contract order for the supply of condoms and was much more than last years supply of 300 million condoms that were given out free in its AIDS prevention program that the United Nations has lauded for being so effective and useful.
The rise in AIDS and STD’s in Brasil has been linked to the fact that older people are now much more sexually active because older men are able to sustain erections for longer by using erectile dysfunction drugs. Previously where an older man might have sex once a month by using say Viagra he can have sex almost whenever he wants. Older people have been seen to be less aware and less careful about getting AIDS and STD’s and this is causing health problems in Brasil.
Many of the AIDS awareness campaigns in Brasil are aimed at young people who are becoming more educated about the risks of unprotected sex and don’t need Viagra anyway, but the older people who are suddenly finding sexual activity on the rise with impotence drugs are often the most reckless and thus get the AIDS virus.
The statistics show that in Brasil the number of older men over the age of 50 who are contracting AIDS has risen from 18 per 100,000 to 30 per 100,000. The number of women who have been infected also rose from 6 to 17 per 100,000 clearly signaling that more education is needed for the elderly with the use of condoms an erectile dysfunction drugs.
