Drinking Could Help Erectile Function

Recently Ukmedix reported on a survey in Australia that showed that smoking and erectile dysfunction were clearly linked. The survey noted that those men who got through over a packet a day had a 40% bigger chance of suffering from erectile dysfunction than those who didn't smoke. Now the same survey after being examined carefully concludes that the relationship between erectile dysfunction and drinking alcohol shows that sometimes a few drinks can actually be good for erectile function.

The surveys says specifically that men who drink on average one to four normal alcoholic drinks daily can decrease their chance of getting erectile dysfunction compared to the men who don't drink and those who drink significantly more.  Over 8,000 men were interviewed about their health and their diet, smoking and drinking habits and the results were compiled by the Australian Study of Health and Relationships. The survey results noted that drinking in moderation gave you an over 60% better chance of retaining erectile function than if you were teetotal. This only suggests that the alcohol helps as the real reason for the improved erectile function may be to do with other social issues.

Unhealthy eating and smoking are both known to clog up arteries and the penile arteries are especially important for erectile function as blood flow to the penis can be hampered by clogged up penile arteries.  Some research shows that moderate drinking can actually help the arteries to stay clear though this is not always the case and can depend on the type of alcohol consumed.

More research needs to be done on the effect of alcohol and the arteries and specifically for the effect on the penile arteries before it can be definitely said that drinking is good for erectile function. Excess drinking can produce devastating results for short term erectile function and equally bad results in the the long term too.
