Men Demoralised If Impotence Drugs Don't Work

The figures show that almost 70 percent of men said they had lost self esteem

A recent research project funded by the pharmaceutical company Bayer who make the erectile dysfunction Levitra shows that man who use medications for impotence become very disenchanted if it does not work on the first time. The study saw that approximately 1/3 of men who did not manage to get an erection after taking either Viagra, Cialis or Levitra decided to give up sex completely.

Men Demoralised If Impotence Drugs Don

At a conference of the European Society of Sexual Medicine the importance of patients getting results immediately when they use erectile dysfunction medication was highlighted. One of the doctors involved in the study said that men who used erectile dysfunction pills and did not immediately get results became very depressed, lost their self esteem and most of them just believed that they would never have sex again.

The figures show that almost 70 percent of men said they had lost self esteem, 32 percent said that they had suffered depression and a quarter of them were of the opinion that their erectile dysfunction would never be able to be treated. In all Bayer studied over 600 men who were suffering from erectile dysfunction.

What this study really shows is that just because you take an erectile dysfunction drug and it does not work does not mean that you can completely give up hope. Doctors should be aware that there is a high chance that their patients will not come and talk to them about erectile dysfunction again if the first medication that they are given does not work. This could mean therefore that men should be told that the Viagra, Cialis and Levitra medications may work and should they not work they must come back for more advice from their doctor.

Erectile dysfunction can sometimes be caused by an underlying medical problem and that is why it is important to continue talking to your doctor even if the first attempt with an erectile dysfunction medication does not work.
