Scientists at the University Hospital of Cologne say that a study they did with dark chocolate shows it could have some positive benefits on hypertension which could help men suffering from erectile dysfunction. Dr Taubert reported in the famous Journal of the American Medical Association that the flavonols in cocoa can promote the producing of nitric oxide which is a chemical that is extremely important for good erectile function in men. Nitric oxide helps the penile vascular muscles to relax which in turn permits the blood to flow into the penile chambers thus promoting good erectile function.

The researchers noted that the dark chocolate could help with the dilation of blood vessels in men which is exactly what Viagra, Cialis and Levitra do to help them get erections. Overall the researchers noted that the men who ate dark chocolate on a regular basis lowered their prevalence of hypertension from 86% to 68%. High blood pressure or hypertension is a major cause of erectile dysfunction.
Now before you go running around to the local corner shop to stock up on vast quantities of dark chocolate be warned that like all chocolate, dark chocolate is extremely high in fat and calories and that too much of it will make you put on weight and this in turn will negate any positive affects the dark chocolate could have on your health.
At Ukmedix News we would recommend that you eat no more than 100g of the dark chocolate daily and that you supplement it with a healthy diet and regular exercise. More research needs to be done on the connection that dark chocolate has on erectile function and that studies like this one do not provide conclusive evidence of the link to good erectile function.
The best ways to ensure that your erectile function is good is to eat healthily, exercise, stay away from smoking and generally make sure that you are healthy.
