New Pfizer Sponsored Survey On Sexual Habits

Written by Stuart Stevens | Wednesday, 20 December 2006

A new survey done by the makers of Viagra, Pfizer has come out with the information that almost 2/3rds of ‘baby boomers’ from the Prairies claim that they are very often just too worn out to have intercourse with their partners. The research saw the most often cited reasons for the lack of satisfactory sex was just plain fatigue, being stressed and also having no time due to family commitments.

The research authors said however reckon that the real reason was not tiredness but that people just were saying that to cover up for the fact that the sex that they were having was not good enough to take extra time over. They argue that no one is really too tired for exceptional sex and that the real reason therefore must be that the sex they are having is just not worth the effort.

The researchers also made note of the issue that it is very bad for couples not to find time to have sex, as this will cause emotional alienation that can undermine a relationship over the long term. The results of the Pfizer funded research showed that 15% of Canadian people said that they did not hug or kiss their sexual partners at all and that 10% only kissed and hugged once or twice monthly. Other results showed that 39% kissed and hugged once a day but the researchers felt that this was probably just only a very “perfunctory” kiss and hug rather than one that showed much affection.

Almost 2,500 Canadian men and women between the years of 40 and 64 were interviewed for the study that was called “Boomers in the Bedroom”. Other findings were that 68% hugged or kissed once weekly and that 42% has sex once weekly.

The researchers said that 5 minute hugs would really make a big difference to the sex lives of these people and this would also greatly improve emotional intimacy in their relationships. They recommended that an exercise called ‘hugging to relax’ was carried out daily for 5 minutes where couples would just take time out and just hug calmly and quietly.

The researchers reckoned that this exercise could help intimacy and relax people and that this would eventually prove beneficial for better sex for the men and women.
