Andropause, the male equivalent of menopause is a major cause of erectile dysfunction. Women who notice that their men are getting resteless, lacking energy and most importantly lacking in sexual stamina and function should be aware of the fact that they probably are suffering from the symptoms of andropause.
Andropause is different to menopause in that it makes a slow and steady approach as opposed to menopause which is more sudden and dramatic. Some doctors say that andropause can make its gradual approach over 10 years or so and many men just take the symptoms to be a sign of aging which in a sense they are.
The main symptoms are lowered decreased sex drive, sexual and erectile dysfunction, low energy levels, depression, inability to perform at work and a general lack of aggressiveness and drive. Andropause can also be the cause of lower bone density and osteoporosis, heart problems, a reduction in muscle mass and an increase in fat mass, lack of iron in the blood.
The treatments for andropause usually involve the use of supplements and vitamins to boost the lacking compounds in the body. The treatment for the erectile dysfunction usually involves the use of Viagra, Levitra or Cialis which are all PDE inhibitors that increase the blood flow to the penile arteries which will boost the sexual function and responsiveness of a man.
Medical advice should always be taken if you are feeling that you maight be suffering from andropause and that you feel that you might require the use of erectile dysfunction medication. Being unable to sustain an erection is not just a sign of andropause but could be also a sign that you have some other medical problem such as hesart disease or diabetes so a full check up is always the best way forward before using erectile dysfunction medication.
