Age And Erectile Dysfunction

Age plays a big part in the lowering of sexual desire and male virilty but many people are not willing to face the sexual metamorphis of middle age and are uneducated in why it happens. This lack of education can cause men and women to get a shock when they realise they can't perform like they used to like they could in their younger days.

The main reason for this slowing down in sexual desire is due to the lowering of hormones that happens in middle age. In a woman this process is called menopause and is connected the ability to produce children. For women the change is very abrupt and comes with emotional and physical implications. Menopause changes the way women feel about sex and often women report that they have lost interest in sex and don't get aroused sexually easily.

Males on the other hand experience a lowering of the all important masculine hormone testosterone, but the process is slower and more gentle. Over 50% of men have suffered from erectile dysfunction at some point by the time they reach the age of 50 and the percentage increases with age. These hormonal changes can cause relationship difficulties and put a strain on interation between the man and woman.

The lack of awareness of the changes often causes more problems as the individual partners are unable to understand why the other partner is losing interest in sex or changing their mood towards intimacy. Both men and women can react badly to loss of sexual desire in themselves and in their partners.

For a man erectile dysfunction produces loss of self esteem and sometimes depression. Erectile dysfunction can also sometimes be connected with some other serious health condition like heart disease. Many other health conditions have sexual function problems as a symptom and so a visit to a doctor should be the first point of call.

Erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis Uprima and Levitra have helped greatly with older people and may be credited with helping relationships in the twighlight years. Both men and women can opt for hormonal treatments to help them with their sex desire, but it is not always successful.

The key to getting over sexual problems due to age is through education and understanding the changes that are happening to your body.
