it can take time for changes in the coronary vessels to progress

Research from the University of Arizona confirms the link between high blood pressure and men suffering from erectile dysfunction. Studies led by Dr. Taben Hale are not only showing how high blood pressure and erectile dysfunction go hand in hand but they also highlight that the vascular changes which occur and which cause the sexual problems are also likely to be causing vascular problems in your heart too.

Hypertension Impotence Connection Confirmed

Dr. Hale explained that men often suffer from erectile dysfunction a few years before heart disease sets in and it can take time for changes in the coronary vessels to progress to the point where the heart attack or acute angina occurs.

The research involves the use of laboratory rats which also suffer from erectile dysfunction when they begin to experience high blood pressure, and it has been recorded that some of the medications which are used to cure the rats of hypertension also have a direct effect on improving their erectile function.

Men should be made aware that while the drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra can be effective in preventing erectile dysfunction they should make sure that any underlying causes of the problem are dealt with. Some doctors say that erectile dysfunction is an early warning signal of heart disease and therefore changes in diet and an exercise routine need to be implemented immediately. Viagra, Cialis and Levitra do not actually permanently cure the problem of erectile dysfunction which is poor blood flow in the penile artery but merely temporarily make the blood vessels open wider to increase blood flow.

Sometimes erectile dysfunction is merely a sign of aging and not of ill health however it pays to be sure and so it is always a good idea to get a checkup.
