It's kind of old news, but here we go again! Yet again a new study has shown that men who make an effort to improve the health of their hearts by getting exercise, eating healthy and generally looking after themselves will dramatically improve their sex lives too. The new study which was published by the Archives of Internal Medicine was authored by an eminent cardiologist from the world famous Mayo clinic. Dr. Stephen Kopecky said that if you were using one of the three erectile dysfunction medications Viagra, Cialis or Levitra they would respond much better if you were healthy and he suggested that should you notice that they were not working so well you might need to work on your overall health.

The research project involved detailed analysis of other medical placebo-controlled clinical trials which looked at erectile dysfunction, lifestyles and cholesterol-lowering statin medicines. In all the medical histories of almost 750 men who were involved in six separate studies from different parts of the world where examined. It was noted that lifestyle modifications and the cholesterol lowering medications did improve erectile function but men should also be aware that if the damage done is already severe the improvements may only be minimal.
The link between good arterial health and good erectile function is very direct and many doctors warn men that if they are suffering from erectile problems they should get their arteries and hearts checked out.
Dr Kopecky said that men in their forties who suffered from erectile dysfunction were as much as 50 times more likely to also be suffering from heart disease when compared to men who did not suffer from erectile dysfunction.
Dr Kopecky stressed that the simple things in life such as eating a lot of fruit and vegetables everyday and getting regular exercise were the best things you could do to improve the health of your heart and therefore the quality of your erections.
