The Canadian government’s health department has issued a warning following extensive research about the dangers of using a number of so called Chinese herbal medications which claim to cure erectile and sexual dysfunction.

Health Canada said that the products that they had come across tended to contain doctored versions of existing erectile dysfunction drugs in unknown quantities. All of the medications made no reference whatsoever to containing these prescription drugs and therefore consumers were taking drugs that could be harmful to them.

Health Canada also warned that some of the products also contained a compound called glibenclamide which is sometimes prescribed to diabetics to lower blood sugar. However when this drug is used by normal individuals it can reduce blood sugar to the point where it becomes fatal. This year glibenclamide has already caused the deaths of a number of individuals who used it inadvertently in so called herbal erectile dysfunction medication.

Health Canada specifically warned that men should not use the medications Nangen Zengzhangsu, Nangen, Nangeng, Jiu Bian Wang, Zui Xian Dan Gong Shi Zi, Sanbianwan Tian Huang Gu Shen Dan, and Power Up. The company that makes some of these products is called Hebei Luquan Shengwugongcheng Youxianggonsi which might not be a real company but just a cover for illegal activity.

It is worth also remembering that any erectile dysfunction medication which has a suggestive or stupid name should be avoided. To be doubly sure you should only use the following three medications namely Viagra, Cialis and Levitra and they should always be accompanied by a prescription.

Health Canada also warned that the majority of the people who bought these products in Canada did so on the internet and therefore they had to use credit cards. This opened them up to the possibility of credit card fraud which would be very embarrassing to explain to your credit card company.
