The importance of maintaing fitness for good erectile function has been underlined by a new research project which shows that even a little bit of gardening everyday can produce significantly better erectile function for older men. The research which was done by the famous Medical University of Vienna saw that the men who exercised for just 30 minutes daily five times a week reduced the risk of suffering from impotence by almost 40 percent. Going for a gentle stroll or gardening was seen to be sufficient exercise in order to produce good results.

The researchers from Vienna also noted that men who exercised even more reduced the risk of erectile dysfunction by over 50%. Almost 700 men between the ages of 45 and 60 took part in this survey and the researchers said that even by burning as little as 1,000 calories a week (200 calories a day), on gentle exercise produced significant results with regard to erectile function. Those men who took exercise more seriously and burnt 4,000 calories a week on exercise fared even better.
Older men often perceive exercise as something which is for younger men and which they themselves cannot do but this research shows that it is not necessary to get kitted out and go to the gym to burn off the calories, and that simple things like gardening and walking are sufficient. The research which is published in full in the respected medical journal European Urology explains that men can greatly improve their quality of life by preventing heart disease, obesity and high blood pressure all of which are linked to erectile dysfunction by getting a little bit of exercise.
Rather than relying on the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra men should all be advised to get fit and healthy before resorting to these drugs.
