In what must be seen as a concerted initiative by government of China to stop the illegal manufacturing and sale of fake impotence drugs a Chinese man received a 10 year prison sentence for being part of an extensive drug making organisation. The man was given a 250,000 dollar fine to compliment his prison sentence. The 34 year old man was found with nearly 400,000 fake Viagra tablets and close to one and a half million fake Cialis pills reckoned to have a street value of over 24 million yuan or thirty million dollars.
Whe the police confiscated the drugs and had them tested it was noted that some of the fake Viagra pills contained absolutely none of the active ingredient namely sildenafil citrate and some of them contained the dose in higher than normal amounts amking them extremely dangerous and potentially life threatening to certain people with heart problems.
Most of the fake Viagra that is advertised in spam and junk emails is made in India and China in illegal factories where there are no quality control checks and hygiene is non-existent. Many people who use these fake drugs and then get sick are too embarassed to go and see a doctor and thus the problem is not reported and usually there is no way of finding out from where the drugs originated from.
Viagra is made legally under FDA and EMEA licence by Pfizer, the worlds largest drug company and Cialis also under licence is made by Lilly Icos. They are known to be the 2 most counterfeited drugs in the world as they are both so well known as erectile dysfunction medications as well as sexual stamina boosters. Both Viagra and Cialis are approved by relevant authorities for sale in China provided a prescription is given.
