him feeling inadequate and the woman feeling unwanted.

According to the professor of Andrology at the Benha Medical Faculty in Egypt almost 2/3 of Egyptian men [64%] between the ages of 35 and 70 suffer from erectile dysfunction. Dr. Sami Hanafi, speaking on behalf of the Egyptian Society of Andrology also explained at a medical conference held in Cairo recently that high numbers of men who smoked in Egypt were partly to blame for the shocking statistics.

Professor Hanafi said that erectile dysfunction could cause marital discord but is very little is said or done about it.  He said that sometimes when marriages broke up other reasons were cited when the real cause was simply that the man was not able to perform in the bedroom and this led to him feeling inadequate and the woman feeling unwanted.

In conservative societies like in Egypt, talking openly about sexual problems is taboo and as a result many men suffering from erectile dysfunction refused to go and get help. With the lack of information about what causes erectile dysfunction many men believed themselves to have psychological problems when in fact the majority of erectile dysfunction cases were caused by simple vascular problems that could be remedied by Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.

Many Egyptian men were also unaware of the fact that unhealthy eating, being overweight and lack of exercise were also directly correlated to higher rates of erectile dysfunction. In many Arab countries where the culture is very masculine and macho men were very hesitant to admit even to a male doctor that there were any problems with their erectile function.

Ukmedix News has observed that talking about erectile dysfunction and getting men to understand that it is a completely normal part of aging helps them to come forward and get medical help. It is especially important that men do something about erectile dysfunction because it is often a warning sign of other underlying vascular illnesses such as heart disease.
