A court in China established a significant and important legal precedent recently when it awarded a woman 6,000 yuan, (about £500) in compensation for being unable to enjoy sex with her husband due to his injuries. The man, who was a cleaner was injured in a motorcycle crash which left him partially brain damaged and blind in one eye.

His wife who is 33 years old argued in court that because of his injuries she was unable to enjoy her previously pleasurable and satisfactory sex life and therefore was seeking 100,000 yuan (£8,500) in compensation. The Qingpu District People’s Court upheld her request but did not give her the full amount she asked for. The right to be able to have sex has been the issue of a number of court cases around the world recently. In India for example women have been taking husbands to court for divorce them if they are unable to perform in the bedroom, something that the Viagra drug or other erectile dysfunction drugs can sometimes resolve.
These days the subject of sex and lack of it is something which is spoken about quite openly and people feel that they have a right to good and satisfactory sex at all times are therefore more likely to establish their right to compensation if they don’t get it. The arrival of erectile dysfunction drugs ten years ago are known to have contributed to the reason why individuals are happy to talk about sex openly and discuss problems freely.
These days women are also far more sexually confident and are more demanding sexually from their men compared to before the arrival of Viagra. Many men sometimes complain that women are the ones who are becoming overly demanding in the bedroom and taking the lead in sexual activity.
